Woodworkers gather around a table an discuss their build at the Rubio Monocoat Atelier

Rubio Monocoat Atelier Charity Raffle

Rubio Monocoat Atelier Charity Raffle

It’s not every day woodworkers from across the globe meet in one place to build something amazing. That’s exactly what took place at the Rubio Monocoat Atelier.

Fourteen talented makers traveled to Rubio Monocoat headquarters in Belgium to participate at this historic event. The woodworkers were split into two teams, given tools and materials and tasked to build furniture pieces to be raffled off. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Aynimundo, a charity helping disable children receive the care they need and assisting in their reintegration into society.

The Projects

Crafted by Jeff Mack, Lucas Jablonski, Nick James, Bruce Kenneth, Pierre Bölmer, David Levantaci and Gaëtan Samyn, Table One was made from ash, oak and Patagonian walnut. It is very deliberately held together with colored pieces of oak representing each of the maker's native countries. The base of this table is made from seven pieces of wood representing the seven makers who worked together to bring this piece to life. This piece was finished with a variety of Rubio Monocoat products including Precolor Easy Vintage Brown and Oil Plus 2C Pure.

Woodworkers Jason Hibbs, Richard Doyle, Craig Norton, Steve and Wood, Sylvie Pereira, Valentin Motsch and Jolene Brebels worked together to create this coffee table and matching side table. These pieces were crafted from ash, oak and Patagonian walnut and were finished with Oil Plus 2C Pure. The coffee table features two live edge ash pieces connected with small wood strips laid in a geometric pattern. The top of the side table is an octagon shape made of oak. Both pieces have coordinating bases made out of oak and Patagonian walnut.

About the Charity

Aynimundo is an organization based in Lima, Peru. It supports local communities with a focus on education and urban development. Rubio Monocoat was first introduced to Aynimundo through a colleague who has personally helped with their projects and operations before.

The goal of this organization is to give disabled children access to healthcare and a quality education, then ultimately, reintegrate them into society.

This incredible organization also helps fight discrimination against these disabled children through promoting acceptance of family, society and the educational system. They also assist in educating teachers and the community about disabilities.
