This project was designed, manufactured and installed by David L Douglas. The design inspiration was Scandinavian; the client wanted something completely different from the traditional look of their main house. With the exterior of the building being cladded in Larch timber, their design team decided to use Oak timber internally. This gave a warm, homely feel even though the building is used on semi regular basis.
The main items that were finished in Oak with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, was the Oak flooring, wall paneling, doors, mock beams and the stair case. As this is used for a Recreation Building they also used Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C on the dart board housing!
David L Douglas convinced the flooring company to use Rubio Monocoat for this project, a product they had never used before. They installed the Oak timber raw and applied the finish, commenting on how happy they were with the product.
"As this was one of our first big projects with Rubio Monocoat, one of the challenges we faced was consistency with coverage. We overcame this by dedicating one person to Rubio Monocoat Quality Control. Another challenge, the client was unsure of using an oil product on a stair case. We had to do various tests and provided numerous samples to put the clients mind at ease." - Michael Douglas
The reason why they chose Rubio Monocoat was two-fold.
1. The color of the Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C - Mist, suited the design and specifications
2. Speed and ease of application.
"Our overall experience with Rubio Monocoat products has been excellent. We use various colours and products across the company now, including Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, Pure. This is a product that we use almost daily.” - Michael Douglas
