We live in a hectic world, full of stimuli and sometimes we just need some peace and quiet. A home that exudes warmth, cosiness and safety is something we all want. That was the starting point for the design of this traditional Serbian house. The use of natural elements, such as wood, stone, glass and marble are characteristic for a house like this. ‹ Return to Gallery
The owner of this house lived abroad for his work for over 30 years. When he came back “home” to Serbia, he wanted a house that emphasized the characteristic Serbian style. Simplicity, warmth and natural materials had to be incorporated into his house.
Wood was the primary material chosen to work with. Wood has played an important role in our house for centuries, originally for practical reasons. But today, the use of wood is completely trendy again!
Wood, wood, wood, everywhere
When you come into the house, the first thing you notice is the hall; it has a dark floor and a high ceiling. The floor was treated with Rubio Monocoat Smoke and Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Castle Brown. Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy, colour Mystic Brown was used for the beams, with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Walnut on top of that. These products and colours together are the perfect combo!
Family is very important to the owner. He wants his family to feel at home as much as he does. The kitchen has to be big enough to welcome them. Rubio Monocoat was also used for this room: Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, colour Castle Brown. Using the same product and colour in the hall and kitchen, creates a sense of continuity in the look and feel.
You can feel the cosy, warm atmosphere throughout the entire house and the Rubio Monocoat products were crucial in this. With Rubio Monocoat, your wood does not only get a new colour, it also retains the natural colour of the wood.
