Natural textures and materials finished with Rubio Monocoat

Two years ago Mesh Club opened its doors in Johannesburg. The club is a meeting place for young start-up entrepreneurs and the already established big names in the Johannesburg business world. The “members only” club includes modern meeting rooms, exclusive offices, a cinema and a well-known bar.

Mesh Club was designed by Studio A, an international award-winning interior architectural firm. Their task was not easy; they had to transform a dark space into a multi-functional and dynamic business lounge which is attractive to both young, ambitious creatives and those with more traditional values.

But they succeeded! 

“If you walk through Mesh Club now, the space really gives you the feeling that you are part of something special and important. Rubio Monocoat plays a major role in this perception. During the design process, we were primarily focused on creating a refined space based on a whole range of natural textures and materials. By using oak and Rubio Moncoat Oil Plus 2C throughout, we had the freedom to change the colour tone of the wood here and there. This added a nice perspective and special connection to the custom-made furnishings.

This also brings us to the biggest advantage of working together with Rubio Monocoat: we were able to create our own oil colours. The unique colour pallet definitely elevates the overall finish of the spaces to a higher level. In addition, it is also the highest-quality finish in the industry."
